At the beginning of July 2018, the Government approved the investment policy of Tre Viet air transport project at Phu Cat airport, Phu Cat district, Binh Dinh province.
Shortly thereafter, Bamboo Airways continued to increase its charter capital to VND 1,300 billion, nearly double the initial VND 700 billion. This amount of charter capital is enough to allow the company to increase the number of aircraft exploited to over 30 aircraft.
However, in the investment policy approved by the Prime Minister, the scale of Tre Viet air project until 2023 can only operate 10 aircraft of type A320/A321 or B737. Therefore, despite increasing capital, Bamboo Airways will likely not increase the number of aircraft exploiting more than 10 aircraft before 2023.
Besides, Bamboo Airways also surprised when signed two contracts with Boeing and Airbus to order 44 aircraft of all kinds. Specifically, in early March 2017, Bamboo Airways reached an agreement on the cooperation of buying 24 USD 3 billion A321NEO planes.
These aircraft will be delivered gradually by Airbus in the period of 2022-2025.
On June 25, FLC continued to sign the next contract to buy 20 787-9s from Boeing with a total contract value estimated by Reuters at about US $ 5.6 billion.
Under the contract, Boeing will gradually deliver 20 of these 787-9 from April 2020 to the end of 2021.
